PAYLOAD

Payload = GVM - KERB WEIGHT

Example:  Your vehicle has a GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) of 3000kg, when you first purchased it the kerb weight was 2000kg, this means you have 1000kg up your sleeve.  You add a bullbar weighing 70kg, now you have 930kg up your sleeve, you add a 160 litre long range tank, deduct 160kg for the contents of the tank = 770kg up your sleeve, now deduct the weight of the tank itself- 40kg = 730kg up your sleeve, 4 passengers at 100kg each = 330kg left over, 4 suitcases @50kg each = 130kg left over.  You can see how quickly your payload is eaten up with added accessories so choose wisely before spending your hard earned $ on every accessory available.

Exceeding your payload means you are at risk of having an insurance claim rejected should you be involved in an accident.
